ok so I didn't keep up with our trek across the USA

But I am going to post some images of the rest of the trip.
San Francisco was cold and foggy. we found it to be more of an Idea than a destination. we mostly hung out at the beach and shivered.
Northern California is a strange and dangerous place. The Giant Redwoods are far more like staring into the prehistoric past than anything I have known.

Texas After New Orleans

Just pulled into Texas. It is really good to see my family. My gramma is so awesome!!she is the sweetest person.
First of all Claksdale and Rosedale were both sort of desolate and appropriate. The Crossroads was marked by little more than a telephone pole with some guitars on it. The intersection was cluttered with commercial properties like Churches chicken a gas station and a furniture store. But the Bar-b-que joint around the corner called Abes smelled really good and the people were really nice. In fact every one we ran it to in Mississippi was so kind.
Later we headed to New Orleans and at first I loved it. Then I realized how much it smelled in the French Quarter. After walking around a while we got really tired and Really Hott!! Then we fell in love with it again when Molly and Paul took us around to these smokey bars with gypsy hobo music. It was positively Magical. there is a lot of punkers with suspenders and 1920's style. Basicly I love New Orleans. There was such a mix of people. Old black dudes playing pool and dancing, young Mexicans trying to pick up girls, Punkers, train hoppers, dread heads, and a couple of tucked in shirt guys.
There was a sharp pang of sorrow in my heart when we left. Missy and I started writing a road song about our expeirences.
See yall somewhere down the line!

North Carolina

We made it finally to Asheville. We are at John and Anja's place. It is rad. Yesterday was full of Driving!! Man alive, we drove for about ten hours! It was one of the most beautiful rides ever. We Traveled through deep green valleys and the mountains rose like sentinels on both side getting ever more impressive. The views were absolutely breath taking. I know it sounds corny but land like this is what makes men corny and in love. Missy and I are having a great time together, laughing a lot and making up personalities to use at truck stops. "Yo, Dude... Pop a wheelie! We want bis-cuts!" We stopped at a few road-side over looks that we marked. i was just about to post an image but I think all our photos just got erased!! Yikes. Any way still having a stellar time!

First stop

Ok we did it. The first stop was just as amazing as we thought it would be. Coney Island is every bit the cultural epicenter we imagened. It was full of people of every different creed and languge.
We put our feet in the water and saw a freakshow. Missy pulled the nail from one of the guy's nose it was totally gross.
We saw a jelly fish and people fishing for crabs with chicken.
Missy had a peanut butter apple with nuts and I had a nathans chilli dog becoming part of the long tradition of beach-goers that must partake in such things no matter how dorky they are. We become part of something larger than ourselves, Somthing the millions of immigrants who entered this country so long or not so long ago were serching for. The hope of America seems just at our fingertips but perhaps just out of our grasp at present. Today on the boardwalk I had a sense of it but I knew it was only a small piece of the grander whole.
The charm of old Coney Island will be missed. It is a shame about all the renovation that is going to happen here in the next couple of months but i guess that besides Coney Is. it self, change is just as much a staple of New York.

We will try to get some pictures up soon but we forgot the chord to our camera so we will have to make due.

(Donations of Gas cards and Cash are being accepted to assist us in discovering the true America that lay beyond the grasp of a single place. Our hope is to see into the beating heart of our country and rekindle our love for her. We live in freedom and feel comfortable in her borders but we have seen prescious little of our dear America. We decided it was time to throw caution to the wind and find out for our selves what is out there. Wish us luck!)
